From the Inquirer:
Filipino modern and contemporary art is booming right now. The sheer amount of artists, galleries, and collectors today is proof of that. As a new year and decade starts, it’s clear an exciting shift in the landscape is coming. And, that’s exactly what the group behind the newest art show in town has realized.
ALT Philippines is the brainchild of 10 of the city’s leading galleries, namely Soler Santos of West Gallery; Mawen Ong of MO_Space; Kathleen Villalon of The Drawing Room; Silvana Diaz of Galleria Duemila; Cesar Villalon, Jr. of The Drawing Room; Evita Sarenas of Finale Art File; Pia Reyes and Gabby dela Merced of Vinyl on Vinyl; Sylvia Gascon of Finale Art File; Tina Fernandez of Artinformal; and Jay Amante of Blanc; Rudolph Kratochwill of 1335Mabini; and Manny de Castro of Underground.
The collective banded together over the passion project to create “new ways of presenting and experiencing art.” What we can expect is an exceptional curated selection from established and up-and-coming artists. According to the release, each of the artist’s works are rooted in exceptional research and unexplored directions, championed by galleries willing to take risks as a way to broaden ideas on art.”
ALT Philippines’ format will be one that’s immersive and engaging. One of the highlights will be the hands-on approach to producing and designing each aspect. Including the hive-like design of the space, dedicated areas per gallery, and public programming.
ALT Philippines 2020 will be held on February 14 to 16 at the SMX Convention Center at SM Aura Premier. Tickets are for sale via SM Tickets.
